Aluminum Sensing

These sensors all have an assured range on aluminum!

Standard inductive sensing range specifications are calculated based on steel targets and unfortunately, aluminum targets experience a 50% (or more) reduction of range. So this means, if an engineer does not properly factor this reduction into a design, the target will “basically” have to touch the sensor to be detected!

Balluff has developed a sensor with dual coils to sense steel, aluminum and all metals at the same sensing distance. This technology is now called "Factor 1". This technology also provides sensor weld-field immunity, which allows the sensors to operate in extreme EMF, EMI, RFI environments.
